GRIZZLIES SLIDE CONTINUES WITH 4-1 LOSS

SAUGET, Ill. — The Gateway Grizzlies took a first-inning lead on Audie Afenir's RBI single Sunday night, but allowed an unearned run in the sixth and a three-run double in the eighth to lose, 4-1, to the Southern Illinois Miners at GCS Credit Union Ballpark.

Gateway (33-47) lost its sixth straight game.

Nolan Earley smacked a grounder down the first-base line past a diving Trae Santos to clear the bases in the eighth inning and put the Miners (39-36) on top for good.
