Nate Gatter is the “Voice of the Grizzlies” and enters his third season with the Grizzlies broadcast team in 2019. Gatter is the lead play-by-play broadcaster on the Grizzlies Media Network and also serves as the primary talent for Grizzlies TV segments and appearances.

In May of 2017, Gatter was announced as the 2017 recipient of the Jim Nantz Award, presented annually by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) to the nation's most outstanding collegiate sportscaster. In 2019, STAA named him an honorable mention selection on its "Top 30 Sportscasters under 30" list.

Gatter is also a play-by-play broadcaster for SEC Network Plus television coverage of Missouri Tigers women's basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and women's soccer.

Previously, Gatter called football and men’s basketball for Lincoln University (NCAA Div. II) in Jefferson City for two years. He has also broadcast Westminster College men’s basketball (NCAA Div. Prior to joining the Grizzlies, Gatter spent three seasons as a play-by-play broadcaster in summer collegiate baseball, including stops with the Northwoods League's Wisconsin Woodchucks in 2016 and the Orleans Firebirds of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League in 2015.

The Clayton native graduated from the University of Missouri in December 2017. While at Mizzou, Gatter called Tigers football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and women’s soccer on 88.1 KCOU. He also served as the station’s assistant sports director for live content and play-by-play, charged with developing younger broadcasters. Off the air, Gatter worked for Mizzou’s student newspaper, The Maneater, and his work garnered multiple awards: National Story of the Year in Opinion/Editorial from the Associated Collegiate Press, and Best Sports Column from the Missouri College Media Association.

Broadcast/Media Relations Assistant

Danny Frey enters his first season with the Grizzlies broadcast team in 2019. Frey assists in day-to-day media relations duties and serves as Gateway's No. 2 broadcaster for all home games. He also contributes to content on and the Grizzlies' social media channels.

Last season, Frey was the broadcasting/media relations intern for the Peoria Chiefs, the Class-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. He wrote game recaps, helped coordinate interviews and served as the team's No. 2 broadcaster.

Frey recently completed his first year as a graduate assistant for the Western Illinois University (NCAA Div. I) athletics department, where he serves as the primary contact for golf, soccer, men's basketball and softball. In addition, Frey called radio play-by-play for the Western Illinois men's basketball team on the Leatherneck Sports Network — and he will do the same for WIU football and men's basketball in the 2019-2020 academic year. As an undergrad, Frey called Leathernecks women's basketball from 2014-2018 and worked as the broadcasting/media relations director for the High Point-Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain league in 2016 and the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League — where he was named the league's broadcaster of the year — in 2017.

A native of Springfield, Ill., he received his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting with a minor in journalism from Western Illinois in the fall of 2017. He is pursuing his master’s degree in Sport Management at Western Illinois.
