Alec Kisena to the New York Mets!

Sauget, IL- Grizzlies starting pitcher Alec Kisena who was the 2018 opening day starter for Gateway has signed with the New York Mets organization. 

The Seattle Washington native debuted with Gateway on June 14, 2017 against the Schaumberg Boomers and was a fixture in the rotation for the remainder of his time with the Grizzlies.In eighteen starts last season, Kisena posted a 5-4 record with a 4.75 ERA. Kisena ranked 7thin the league in strikeouts with 108, averaging a staggering 9.7 SO/9.

 

He was originally taken by the Detroit Tigers in the 16th round of the 2015 amateur draft.  In nine Gulf Coast League games Kisena had a 2.25 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 40 innings.

Kisena, becomes the 45th Grizzlies player to sign with a major league organization in its 18-year history.

The Gateway Grizzlies first 2019 home game will be played on May 10th.
