Bio

Max MacNabb is in his first year with the Grizzlies and his fifth as a professional.

MacNabb was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 18th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of the University of San Diego, where he overlapped for three years with fellow Torero and 2017 National League MVP Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs.

After 19 games with the Arizona League Padres, MacNabb traveled to find baseball opportunities abroad. He pitched in France (Templiers Senart), the Czech Republic (Skokani Olomouc), and two different leagues in Australia (highlighted by an exceptional season with the Adelaide Bite — 3-0, 2.76 ERA ... 22 K / 2 BB in 29 1/3 innings) before he was signed by the Baltimore Orioles — three full years after his last appearance in professional baseball in the United States.

MacNabb started with the Gulf Coast League Orioles before reaching the Class-A Delmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League. Between both stops, he was 1-1 with a 3.50 ERA with 13 strikeouts (against two walks) in 18 innings.

A native of Southern California, MacNabb chose to stay close to home at the University of San Diego over interest from powerhouse programs LSU, Cal State Fullerton, and UC-Irvine.
