Bio

Cody Livesay (pronounced "Liv-uh-see") enters his fourth season with the Grizzlies in 2018. Entering the season, his 253 career hits narrowly lead all active Gateway hitters — Blake Brown is hot on his heels with 245 coming into play in 2018. His 47 career steals also lead active Grizzlies, and he's closing in on Jonathan Johnson's franchise record of 57 stolen bases.

Last year, Livesay hit .273 while finishing second on the team with 82 games played. He also set career highs in stolen bases (20, in 27 attempts) and walks (57, against only 60 strikeouts). His high walk total allowed Livesay to post an outstanding .388 on-base percentage, which ranked second on the team. He was exceptionally hot to start the season, hitting safely in eight of his first nine games and piling up the walks to reach a .437 on-base percentage in May.

The Jonesboro, Ill., native signed with Gateway on June 9, 2015 after playing three seasons in the Atlanta Braves organization.

Livesay spent the 2014 season between the Braves’ rookie and A-ball affiliates, hitting .293 with three doubles and 12 RBIs in 41 games. Livesay played in 117 games in his three years in the Braves organization, over which span he hit .275 with 31 RBI and 35 stolen bases.

Livesay, who will turn 25 on July 6, was originally drafted by the Braves out of Anna-Jonesboro High School in the 42nd round of the 2011 MLB Draft.
