GRIZZLIES OFFENSE STRUGGLES, NORMAL AVOIDS SWEEP
SAUGET, Ill. – The Gateway Grizzlies picked up six hits, but stranded nine runners on base as they dropped the series finale against the Normal CornBelters Sunday night at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. FINAL SCORE: Gateway 0, Normal 1.
Gateway starter Will Anderson allowed only one run and three hits over seven innings of work. He allowed a one-out RBI single in the third by Normal first baseman Aaron Dudley but settled in after that. Anderson retired the side in order the next four innings.
Gateway threatened in the seventh by putting runners on second and third with two outs, but right fielder Cody Livesay popped out to second to end the threat.
Anderson took the tough loss to take his season record down to 2-13. He pitched seven innings and allowed only one run on three hits while striking out three.
Gateway will have Monday off before beginning a three-game series against the Southern Illinois Miners Tuesday night at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. All the action can be heard on the Grizzlies Media Network.
