GRIZZLIES FALL IN PITCHERS' DUEL, RASCALS TAKE SERIES

SAUGET, Ill. – Gateway's pitching staff shined on Sunday night, but River City took advantage of a costly error in the ninth inning to clinch the series at GCS Credit Union Ballpark.

Gateway starter Vince Molesky made his first start coming off the disabled list, and pitched admirably through five innings of work.

The game went scoreless through the first three innings of play until River City third baseman Josh Silver hit a solo home run to put the Rascals ahead 1-0.

Gateway tied the score at one in their half of the fifth inning on a one-out single by designated hitter Blake Brown. He has 38 RBIs this season, which lead the team.

The Grizzlies could not bring any more runs across through the final four innings. Gateway stranded twelve runners on base Sunday night. FINAL SCORE: River City 2, Grizzlies 1.

Vince Molesky pitched very well in his first start since June 15th. He threw five innings and gave up just one run off of two hits. He walked two and struck out four in the no decision.

The Grizzlies will be back in action on Monday night against the Windy City Thunderbolts. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. All of the action can be heard on the Grizzlies Media Network.
