GRIZZLIES LOSE LATE LEAD, FALL TO RIVER CITY

SAUGET, Ill. -- Gateway held a slim one run lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but could not bring another run across. FINAL: River City 6, Grizzlies 3.

River City took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Morales and Love gave the Rascals an early two-run lead.

Gateway answered in the top of the third inning. Brian Lees scored his first run of his Frontier League career on Matt Hearn's RBI ground out. The Grizzlies added one more in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Lees. The game was tied at two going into the bottom of the fourth inning.

After a scoreless fifth inning, Gateway's offense came through in the top of the sixth. Terry McClure led off with a double and eventually came around to score on an Evan Rogers ground out. The Grizzlies completed the comeback and took their first lead of the game heading into the bottom half of the sixth.

The Rascals answered in the home half of the sixth, scoring two runs off of two hits. Josh Ludy and Brandon Thomas scored for River City after a passed ball by Kisena and a throwing error by Lees allowed both runs to come in.

The offense disappeared for Gateway through the final three innings of play and River City evened up the season series with a 6-3 victory.

Reese Gregory picked up the win and Alec Kisena picked up his first loss of the season. Kisena pitched through six innings and gave up two earned runs on nine hits.
