OFFENSE STRUGGLES, GRIZZLIES DROP SERIES FINALE TO RIVER CITY

Sauget, IL -- The Grizzlies could not carry over their offensive fire power from Saturday night as they fall to the River City Rascals in the series finale by a final score of 10-1.

 

Gateway was held scoreless through the first two innings, picking up just one hit. River City took control right away, scoring one run in the top of the first inning and scoring three more in the top of the second inning with the help of a Jimmy Kerrigan 2-RBI single.

 

The Grizzlies added their first and only run in the bottom of the third inning when Josh Bunselmeyer scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Zach Lavy.

 

River City added a few insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning. They scored four runs on four hits. Jimmy Kerrigan hit a three-run home run to extend his RBI total to six on the night.

 
Gateway was shut down throughout the rest of the game. They picked up just one hit from the fourth inning through the ninth inning.
 

FINAL SCORE: River City 10, Grizzlies 1.

 

Blake Brown continued his success at the plate, going 2-4 with two singles.

 

Vince Molesky picked up his fourth loss of 2017, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits. He walked one and struck out five.

 

The Grizzles will have a day off on Monday and then will head out for a six-game road trip. They will start a three-game series against the Traverse City Beach Bums on Tuesday, June 6th.
