GRIZZLIES DROP SERIES FINALE TO LAKE ERIE

The Grizzlies offense could not get anything going until the sixth inning as Lake Erie took control early and snagged a victory in the series finale by a final score of 5-2.

Lake Erie once again picked up a very important run in the first inning after Parker Norris singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

The Crushers added two more runs in the top of the third inning as Jordan Dean picked up his third long ball of the 2017 season. His two-run shot put Lake Erie up 3-0.

Connor Oliver and Tanner Lubach both picked up an RBI single apiece in the top of the fifth, extending Lake Erie's lead to five.

Gateway picked up their first runs of the ball game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Grizzlies first baseman Craig Massoni laced a one out single through the left side of the infield, scoring Cody Livesay and Matt Hearn.

Lake Erie did not add any more runs through the final three innings of the ballgame, but also managed to hold the Grizzlies scoreless. FINAL: Grizzlies 2, Lake Erie 5.

The Grizzlies were outhit by a nine to six margin and surrendered two errors on Thursday night.

Will Anderson picked up his second loss of the season, as he worked through a little over five innings, giving up five runs on five hits, surrendering four walks, and striking out one. Lake Erie newcomer Jordan Kurokawa picked up his first win of 2017, pitching a little over five innings and giving up two runs (one earned).

"No pitcher is going to have their best stuff every time out," Grizzlies' skipper Phil Warren said of starter Will Anderson. "He didn't have his best stuff, but he competed, he grinded it out and gave us a chance to win. That's all you can ask for."

The Grizzlies will head out to Crestwood, IL for a three-game series against the Windy City Thunderbolts beginning on Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

You can catch all of the action from this weekend's series on the Grizzlies Media Network.
