GATTER HONORED AS 2017 JIM NANTZ AWARD WINNER

The "Voice of the Grizzlies," Nate Gatter, has been named the winner of the 2017 Jim Nantz Award, presented by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA).

The Jim Nantz Award is an annual honor presented to the top collegiate broadcaster in the nation. The candidate is selected by a group of well-respected individuals in the sports broadcasting industry.

"I'm thrilled for Nate," Grizzlies general manager Steve Gomric said. "He is a wonderful talent. He has developed his broadcasting skills well beyond his age. I have the highest expectations for him as a Grizzlies employee and wherever his career takes him."

Gatter will be honored at the 2017 National Sports Media Association (NSMA) awards in Winston-Salem, NC on June 26th.

"I'm honored to win the award, especially considering the incredible talent of past and present STAA honorees," Gatter said. "It's a true privilege to represent the Grizzlies and all the other teams that have given me so much along the way."

Before joining the Grizzlies Media Network, Gatter picked up play-by-play experience during his early years at the University of Missouri. He called the action for various Missouri baseball, softball, and women's soccer games for SEC Network Plus. He also served as the play-by-play voice for two summer collegiate baseball teams (Wisconsin Woodchucks and Orleans Firebirds); Lincoln University (football and men's basketball); and Westminster College (men's basketball).

You can catch Nate all season long on the Grizzlies Media Network.
